A Blanket for Charlotte

As I did for her big brother, I knit a blanket for Charlotte using cotton yarn. For this blanket, I used “I Love This Cotton!” yarn from Hobby Lobby. This is a lovely yarn that knits up into a soft fabric with wonderful drape. It’s machine washable — which is a must for baby items.

The pattern is Leafy Baby Blanket by Leyla Alivea. It is a free pattern available on her blog, Silk & Wool and also on Ravelry. It’s an easy lace pattern — and as you can see — I got great stitch definition with the yarn.

Other details: Yarn – I Love This Cotton! in Colorway 74 Pink, 180 yds/skein. Used 5 skeins(900 yds)
Needles: US Size 8 (5.00 mm)
Finished measurements: 36″ X 40″

I finished my Teddy Bear Baby Blanket this morning! I am very pleased with the finished project. The blanket measures 36 inches by 40 inches. The seed stitch border really sets off the reverse stockinette stitch teddy bear pattern.

Second Row of Teddy Bear Squares

My Teddy Bear baby blanket is now half done.  I have completed two rows of the Teddy Bear pattern and I really love how it is knitting up.  The Peaches & Cream yarn is soft as you knit and will become even softer when washed.  Perfect for a baby – soft and washable.

\"First Row of Teddy Bear Squares\"
I have completed the first row of Teddy Bear pattern squares on my baby blanket. This project is knitting up nicely and I am happy with my adaptation of the original pattern. I think the choice of the cotton Peaches & Cream yarn was also a good one. Just read a thread on Ravely about yarns for babies and one knitter commented on how the Peaches and Cream yarn gets softer with each wash – exactly what I wanted: a soft, washable baby blanket.
